Johns Manville Roofing Solutions Win 2013 Architectural Products’ Innovation Awards

Johns Manville (JM), a leading supplier of commercial roofing products, today announced its ENRGY Curb* and Invinsa FR products earned top honors in the 2013 Architectural Products Product Innovation Awards (PIAs).

JM’s ENRGY Curb was awarded for excellence in the ‘Solar Control & Shading: Site-Generated Energy’ category. ENRGY Curb is a solar photovoltaic (PV) mounting solution designed specifically for use on commercial/low-slope roofs.

“ENRGY Curb is unlike most solar PV mounting systems currently on the market because it utilizes roofing practices for attachment to the building without additional penetrations and/or excessive weight,” says Eric Smith, JM’s West Coast Solar Client Manager. “We are incredibly proud that ENRGY Curb is being acknowledged as a unique solution within the industry. We are in the process of commercialization and look forward to a launch in 2014.”

JM’s Invinsa FR was awarded for excellence in the ‘Building Envelope’ category. Invinsa roof boards meet the needs of cold-applied and self-adhering bituminous as well as single ply roofing systems. Their high compressive strength combined with low weight introduce a new level of roof system protection and performance. Invinsa roof board saves up to five tons of dead weight for every 100 squares of roof. Invinsa FR delivers added performance for single ply roofing systems installed over combustible decks by offering UL® Class A certifications.

“Invinsa FR is first of its kind in the high-density polyiso product category,” says Mandy Schweitzer, Cover Boards Product Manager with JM Roofing Systems. “It offers the strength, flexibility and light weight that make it fast and easy to install while saving installers time and money and providing peace of mind via a UL Class A certification. At JM, we’ve always known Invinsa FR was an innovative product, and we are thrilled the PIAs now give third-party validation to this claim.”

Now in its third year, the PIAs determine and honor innovation in the development and refinement of building-related products that range from cladding systems to roof systems.

“Building on the success of last year’s program, our third edition of the awards proves commercial building manufacturers are committed to, and are working arduously toward, delivering more sustainable products, as well as products that deliver better performance, life and affordability,” said Architectural Products Magazine Editorial Director Jim Crockett.

Submissions are judged by a group of 50 independent industry professionals who impartially review the products and award manufacturers based on attributes, qualities, functionality and/or performance beyond industry standards.
