Ryobi Introduces New Line of Lithium Ion Powered Rechargeable Cordless Tools

Ryobi has introduced a new line of 18-volt lithium-ion power tools, delivering on its promise to offer professional features at affordable prices.

Ryobi's new line of lithium-ion power tools offers complete compatibility with all existing and future Ryobi 18-volt tools.

The new Ryobi Lithium tools are an extension of the One+ System, the best-selling consumer 18-volt cordless tool system, and offer complete compatibility with all existing and future One+ tools. The enhanced battery technology powers Ryobi 18-volt tools for twice as long and weighs twenty percent less than a comparable 18-volt Ni-Cad battery. The lithium-ion batteries also reduce the need to recharge during long periods of non-use, holding the charge four-times as long as Ni-Cad batteries.

"This is a significant launch for Ryobi tools and our loyal customers," said Mike Farrah, senior vice president of marketing for Ryobi. "We know we have very loyal DIYers that have embraced our 18-volt One+ System and we also have professionals using the system. We're confident the increased run time of new Lithium batteries will be very attractive to our customers, especially pros who seek maximum performance at a great value."

As part of Ryobi Lithium, Ryobi will introduce three new products; a Battery Upgrade Kit, which will give existing Ryobi One+ tool owners the enhanced performance of a lithium-ion battery, a 2-Piece Lithium Power Drill Kit and 4-Piece Lithium Power Tool Kit. Each will feature the new designated exterior color -- hyper green -- to distinguish the line from the current One+ System.

Designed to give tool users the freedom to create their own tool combinations the One+ System allows consumers and professionals to purchase tools, batteries and chargers individually saving cost and eliminating unwanted extra batteries and chargers. The system offers a complete line of cordless tools and accessories using the same power source, which is compatible with every past, current and future Ryobi 18-volt tool.

Since the introduction of the first One+ compatible drill in 1996, tens of millions of One+ tools have entered the market and are powered by the same battery platform.

The Ryobi Lithium tools and batteries are available now exclusively at The Home Depot.

The Ryobi Lithium 18-volt power tools come with a two-year limited product warranty and a 30-day no-risk satisfaction guarantee. The hyper green color used on this product is a trademark for RYOBI brand power tools.
