A new book asks the big question of the building industry with its title, “Why is construction so backward?” Modern construction has changed relatively little since the Victorian era resulting in an industry that is expensive, plagued by delays and restricted by impractical design and planning rules.

The book talks about how the construction industry can improve by a range of means including influence from other areas such as motor vehicle production lines.
