Jackson Civil Engineering Wins Bid to Build Sittingbourne Northern Relief Road

Kent County Council has appointed Jackson Civil Engineering to build the Sittingbourne Northern relief road.

It had been anticipated that the work would be worth £26m, but Jackson has won the deal with a bid of £16m.

The work includes the construction of approximately 1.5km of single carriageway highway as well as two bridges, three retaining structures, one culvert and ground improvement measures.

The bridges comprise a 100m three span composite construction bridge over Milton Creek navigable waterway and a 40m single span composite construction bridge over a heritage railway.

Ground improvement measures include a piled load transfer platform across a closed landfill site and piling or band drains over low lying soft ground.
