Hospitality Services Assigned to Design Expansions for Canadian Travel Plazas

Hospitality Services, Inc., a Baltimore based foodservice planning and design company, has been hired by HMS Host to design foodservice areas and convenience stores for several Canadian travel plazas. Phase 1 which includes seven out of twenty-three plazas is underway.

Located across Ontario, these travel plazas will soon offer quick, casual eating options for the busy traveler. HSI is working with each individual franchisor to design their space while maintaining its brand identity. Restaurants will include local favorites such as Tim Hortons, the largest quick service restaurant chain in Canada.

Slated to open in Spring 2010, the expansion of these travel plazas couldn’t come at a better time as more and more travelers are choosing the highway over airline travel. According to a recent survey conducted by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, 78% of the Canadian traveler reported taking at least one pleasure trip to Ontario during the past two years – with Ontario touted as being the most frequented Canadian Province. Ontario anticipates a 2% increase in travel through 2013.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to expand our reach and provide the services and expertise on which we have built a nationwide reputation,” states Allan T. Hirsh, III, President of HSI.
