Amec Bidding For Olympics Construction Work

The Sunday Times is reporting that British project management group Amec PLC, has made a takeover bid for the 1.1 billion pound construction of the East London Olympic Games site. Without naming a source, the offer is faced with competition from numerous international construction management groups, including Bechtel of the US. The offer from Amec follows anm invitation from the London Development Agency (LDA) to register interest in becoming programme manager for the Games site.

If successful, they will be charged with constructing the new Olympic stadium plus other facilities like the velodrome, aquatics centre, hockey stadium and non-competition areas like the media centre and the athletes' village.
