Leighton Contractors to Deliver Civil and Underground Works Package for Gorgon Project

Leighton Contractors has been awarded a contract by Chevron Australia to deliver the civil and underground works package for the Gorgon Project valued at more than $800 million.

The contract win is in addition to the company’s current work in hand at the Gorgon Project where the company is completing works on the 2.1 kilometre LNG jetty and marine structures in consortium with Saipem.

The contract scope includes earthworks, in-situ and precast concrete and underground services --including drainage, piping and electrical and instrumentation cabling which will be installed within the LNG plant site.

The team will commence work immediately are expected to be complete by mid 2013.

Leighton Contractors was previously awarded a contract in consortium with Saipem worth $1.1 billion dollars for the design, material supply, fabrication, construction and commissioning of the LNG jetty and marine structures, and the design, fabrication and installation of jetty Pre Assembled Racks.

The Gorgon Project is operated by an Australian subsidiary of Chevron and is a joint venture of the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (approximately 47 per cent), ExxonMobil (25 per cent) and Shell (25 per cent), Osaka Gas (1.25 per cent), Tokyo Gas (one per cent) and Chubu Electric Power (0.417 per cent).
