BEX Asia 2012 to Focus on Building Sustainable Communities in Urban Environments

BEX Asia 2012, a prominent event for the green building and construction industry, is to be held from 10-12, October 2012, at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre, Singapore.

Singapore has been encouraging eco-friendly designs and practices for a greener built environment. Numerous green developments such as the Marina Bay Financial Centre, The Seafront on Meyer, Singapore Sports Hub, the Hyflux Innovation Centre and the Sky Habitat have taken place over the last couple of years. In 2011, the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) honored Singapore with a Leadership Award for excellence in city policy for green building.

Many people are shifting to urban areas, leading to an urgent need for creating sustainable, livable and climate positive cities. Governments and businesses across the globe have identified this issue and have prioritized resource conservation and sustainability. The Asia Pacific Regional Network Manager for WorldGBC, Mann Young, stated that collaboration was important for encouraging green building efforts. The Singapore Green Building Council is organizing the International Green Building Conference 2012 and Young will be speaking at the event.

The BEX Asia 2012 will offer industry leaders opportunities to improve their business prospects, network and obtain information about the latest innovations. Skyrise Landscaping, Green Interiors, and Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning are three new segments at this year’s event.

The FOCUS@BEX platform this year will showcase the latest green technologies and products. Asahi Glass will demonstrate ultra-durable architectural protective coatings, Protech Glass System will introduce a thermal performance simulation programme and Eco Green will be launching new LVD induction lamp technology.

Eminent personalities in the green building industry will be participating in the FOCUS@BEX guest-speaker programme.
