Sound Insulation For Community Staircase Areas

To meet the government's housing requirements, the construction of apartment dwellings continues to increase and with it comes a new set of building regulations.

One of the latest, Part E seeks to improve the comfort of apartment residents by reducing sound transmission.

To help achieve this, Halfen now offers the all-new HBB Sound Insulation Box which is designed to isolate sound in communal staircase areas. Transfer of football-induced sound between the staircase landing and the internal apartment dwelling is prevented by effectively resting the landing on a special high-performance elastomeric layer within the HBB box. The elastomeric layer is trapezoidal-shaped in two directions above and below the horizontal.

Structural integrity is provided by specially-designed shear link reinforcement which spans between the floor landing and the wall. HBB is suitable for both precast and in-situ landing applications.

Full details are available on request from Halfen.
