SCRA Breaks Ground on Nine Acre Site at Nexton

SCRA today announced that it has broken ground on its nine acre site at Nexton; located at the junction of I-26 (Exit 199) and Highway 17A in Summerville, S.C. Nexton's Class A walkable campus will become the new base for SCRA's Charleston-area operations and the majority of the company's Charleston-area employees.

Earlier this year, SCRA initiated its Nexton project by engaging Choate Construction as the general contractor and LS3P Associates, Ltd. as the architect for a new SCRA Applied Research Center at Nexton. SCRA previously worked with Choate to deliver the award-winning SCRA Innovation Center in Charleston. The new SCRA facility is expected to be complete and move-in ready in October, 2014.

"We are excited that the facility is coming to life as we enter this new phase of development," said SCRA CEO Bill Mahoney. "We are delighted to work with MWV, Choate and LS3P to bring this concept to reality. We look forward to our new facility that will help advance our capabilities to expand the Knowledge Economy in South Carolina."

Nexton is a place where businesses, shops, homes, restaurants and schools are connected by trails and parks. Amenities are a walk or bike ride away and the entire community is connected to the world through leading-edge technology.
