New 320-Unit Parks at Nexton Apartment Community Breaks Ground in Summerville

The Beach Company and MWV have broken ground on the 320-unit Parks at Nexton apartment community. A joint venture of the two local companies, the Parks is the first residential construction in the 4,500-acre Nexton community, located at I-26 and 17A in Summerville.

"We are quite excited to bring a new pedestrian-friendly, urban living experience to the Summerville marketplace," said Kent Johnson, Vice President of Development at The Beach Company. "Our high level of amenities -- coupled with cutting-edge internet technology -- should make the Parks a unique home for our future residents."

The upscale, contemporary apartments will offer gigabit speed internet and the opportunity to choose a floor plan that meets residents' needs, from studio apartments to three-bedroom flats. Resident amenities include gourmet kitchens, 9'-10' ceilings, a commercial-quality fitness center, a Club Room for residents' enjoyment, a business center, a courtyard saltwater pool, and automobile garages. Residents will also enjoy Nexton's extensive trail and park network, affording the opportunity to walk or bike to work, dining, and shopping.

"Nexton is a place where schools, businesses and homes are all in close proximity," commented Kenneth T. Seeger, president, MWV Community Development and Land Management. "The Parks apartments offer the first opportunity to experience the unique Nexton lifestyle."

In December, Nexton announced that it has become South Carolina's most technologically advanced community by being the first Gigabit community in the state. Residents will have affordable access to a 1 Gbps "One Gig" connection from the day they move in. This speed, 100 times faster than standard internet, offers unparalleled entertainment through Ultra High Definition IPTV (internet protocol television) and advanced gaming functionality. They will be able to stream and download (and upload) music and videos more rapidly, connect more with family and friends, manage their energy consumption, remotely control lighting and security systems, and monitor and control health care solutions.

The Parks apartments are expected to be available for occupancy in late 2014.
