IBEX Completes Construction of Two Luxury Jewelry Stores at the Americana Manhasset

IBEX Construction, a New York-based firm specializing in high-end retail and corporate construction, has completed two luxury jewelry stores, Van Cleef & Arpels and Cartier at the Americana Manhasset Mall. IBEX has also provided construction management services for two other stores at the mall, TWO by London and Chanel Fine Jewelry.

Van Cleef & Arpels, recognized as one of the finest jewelers in the world, opened its new location at the Americana Manhasset as part of the London Jewelers collection of stores. This newly developed concept allows the store to be an individual property from the outside while allowing customers to move freely from one collection to the next. Each store has its own distinctive style and exclusive finishes that represent the brand, but the transition from store to store is seamless and relaxed.

IBEX provided construction management services for the new Van Cleef & Arpels location, which was built with some of the finest materials imported from around the world. The store’s Limestone façade was brought from Italy, Venetian plaster covers the interior walls and imported wall coverings create a sumptuous interior space. Handcrafted display cases with specialty interior lighting and kiosks created with Verde marble and starfire glass showcase some of the store’s premium collection. A high-level security system also was installed.

IBEX also lent its construction management services to upscale jeweler Cartier, creating a warm, inviting space finished with sophisticated exotic woods covering the walls and a blended wood and black granite flooring. The store’s lighting, including built-in display cases with remote lighting features, general cove lighting and a grand chandelier at the store’s entrance, was designed to highlight the store’s stunning jewels. The new Cartier location is one of the finest examples of retail craftsmanship completed by the firm to date.

New York-based Callison designed the new Van Cleef & Arpels and Cartier stores.

“Van Cleef & Arpels and Cartier are jewelers of the highest caliber—their collections are coveted by royal families around the world, celebrities and other high-profile individuals, so their stores are built to reflect the quality and reputation of these brands,” said Andy Frankl, president of IBEX Construction. “IBEX is known for its attention to detail and dedication to fine workmanship, which has made us the construction company of choice for exclusive, high-end retail and renovation projects. We are pleased to be providing construction management services for multiple stores at the Americana Manhasset and setting the benchmark even higher for luxury retail craftsmanship.”

IBEX is also the preferred construction firm for several other premier jewelers at the mall.

In 2012, the construction firm created a 4,500-square-foot TWO by London store, the London Jewelers’ engagement shop at the Americana Mall and the brainchild of Scott Udell, VP of London Jewelers. TWO by London is first of its kind in the US, providing a new, unique way to shop for engagement rings, wedding bands and wedding day jewelry.

“IBEX Construction was instrumental helping TWO by London kick off our exclusive new concept,” said Mr. Udell. “TWO by London at the Americana Mall is sleek and modern yet approachable for any client looking for that special ring for that special occasion.”

The store, designed by Callison, features high-quality, six-inch wide plank ash wood flooring with a specialized stain, Carnegie Xorel brand, environmentally sound woven wall wrapping covering millwork wall panels and grain marble countertops. LED accent and metal halide recessed accent lighting and radiused cove ceiling lights softly illuminate the store. TWO by London also has a high-security 11-foot-tall bulletproof glass storefront and entrance door, fire shutter and roll down gates.

The IBEX team put their construction management skills to work on Chanel Fine Jewelry, Chanel’s specialty retail boutique. The store offers a mix of Chanel-branded fine jewelry and timepieces. Designed by Barteluce Architects & Associates in cooperation with Peter Marino, the architect who oversees Chanel’s worldwide boutiques, the store is fronted with a custom-designed glass, metal façade and fabric wall panels with integral casework. The boutique finished with eye-catching beaded metal mesh window treatments and beautiful broadloom carpet.

After finishing those four stores, IBEX is now building the new David Yurman location at the mall. Designed by Jason Goldstein LLP, the store will display its jewelry in imported and lacquered white oak cases and matched accent panels on the walls. Rich Montagne stone and Cortina leathers will finish the space. Work on the new David Yurman store has begun and scheduled to open this year.

The Americana Manhasset is the largest, most well-known shopping center on Long Island, commonly referred to as “Miracle Mile.” International fashion designers and luxury companies including Chanel, Christian Dior, Cartier, Bottega Veneta, Donna Karan, Fendi, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, MaxMara, St. John, Tiffany & Co., and Prada are all located at the open-air shopping center, comprised of 60+ retail stores and restaurants. The 220,000-square-foot-site is surrounded by gardens designed by Oheme van Sweden.
