Annual Paint Color Forecast Paints The Town...

California Paints has issued its annual color forecast. According to Aimee Desrosiers, the company's color expert and industry consultant for home fashion, dramatic colors, heavily influenced by the youth market, are heading home in 2006.

The hot hues for 2006 include:

Pink
Back by popular demand, pink will still be a force in the upcoming year. Try a dramatic pink like Glam, or Broken Heart, a sophisticated, glamour-neutral pink.

Brown
Luxurious, rich, dark, and authentic browns are warmer, deeper and more sophisticated for 2006. Represented by California Paints' Film Noir, this warm black-steeped brown, can be likened to dark roast coffee.

Orange
The fastest-rising star in the color palette will influence reds, yellows and pinks as the year progresses. True, joyful orange is popping up in all areas of home fashion- from paint to textiles. A new hue in this group is Lava Lamp, an energized, yellow-tinged orange that is hip and urban.

Green
This year will see a burst of fresh and ripe citrus, with greens becoming brighter and splashier. This spectrum is boldly represented by Hyper, a young and alive color, created for teens.

Blue
To beat the blues, consumers can calm and freshen the home with blue-green watery hues. Try Muse and Luxe, colors that are meditative and spa-like but energizing.

Red
Although red is losing some popularity to orange with red/orange hybrids emerging towards year-end, one lipstick red tops the '06 trends. Let's face it, red is always hot. California Paints' Siren is a sexy, daring and not subtle color.

Yellow
High-chroma yellow and gold take center stage as global design continues to influence home decor. Shades in this category include Sin City and Crazy Horse, both ancient gold and earthen treasures, and Frenzy, a high-voltage, trendy hue.

Purple
A fter having been "browned-down" to aubergine for the last few years, purple is making an ascent in popularity. Pale thistle and soft violets and mauves will eventually replace pink as the cycle continues. Try Shimmy, a subtle, silvery, dusty, blue-purple.

California Paints are also available in exclusive 4-ounce jars containing the company's hottest hues, classic colors, and forward-looking trends in home fashion.
