Roofing Installer Program Planned for Sacramento

Tile roofing contractors will have the opportunity to become certified in the latest installation methods and best practices at a November training session in Sacramento. Attendees of the Tile Roofing Installer Certification Program will learn current installation techniques, acquire advanced information about tile roofing and earn the “Certified Tile Roofing Installer” designation.

“The program has really taken off in the contractor community,” says Jeanne Sheehy, managing director of the Tile Roofing Institute (TRI), sponsor of the certification program. “In addition to learning about proper installation methods, earning the certification really gives these professionals a leg-up.”

Marketing Edge

According to Sheehy, completing the training session and earning the installer certification gives roofing contractors a marketing edge. “It identifies them to builders and homeowners as installers who are knowledgeable about their industry and current on installation guidelines,” she states.

Contractor employers also benefit from the certification, as they can promote having certified installers on staff and use a certification logo on marketing materials, such as ads and company literature.

Training

The two-day program addresses broad-based tile roofing practices and techniques, including estimating, planning and execution of residential projects. It will also address regional practices present in the markets where the trainings are conducted. The Sacramento training is the fourth time the training has been held.

The certification program is based on TRI’s Concrete and Clay Roof Tile Installation Manual for Moderate Climate Regions, a guide co-sponsored by the Western States Roofing Contractors Association and recognized by the International Code Council. The program is open to roofing contractors, forepersons, estimators, owners and manufacturer sales and marketing professionals.

Session Details

Scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 1 and Thursday, Nov. 2, the training will take place at the Holiday Inn Capitol Plaza in Sacramento, Calif. To earn the “Certified Tile Roofing Installer” designation, attendees must successfully complete the program and pass a certification exam.
