First 1600 Homes To Be Built By Housing Partnership

Housing Partnership, the joint unit formed by the Housing Corporation and national regeneration agency, English Partnerships, has announced plans for the construction of 1600 affordable homes in some of England’s key growth areas.

The sites are split between the South East, Thames Gateway and the East of England. Approximately 1,100 units will be built in the towns of Crawley, Hemel Hempstead, Northampton, Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City and Basildon while around 500 units will be built on sites in Milton Keynes and Peterborough. More than 55 per cent of the units are to be reserved for workers such as nurses and teachers.

A two-stage competition was used to select Genesis Housing Group and Bedfordshire Pilgrims Housing Association as the preferred development. They were selected by a panel of government representatives after their bids were assessed benchmarks such as sustainability, energy efficiency and building and design techniques.
