Popular Science Magazine has named a special coating that generates solar electricity it's Innovation of the Year and Green Tech Grand Award Winner. The coating is the Nanosolar Powersheet and it works just like a conventional solar panel, without the need for a rigid and bulky panel.
The solar sheets can be installed almost anywhere and are cheap to produce. Electricity produced by convential solar panels costs about $3 per watt. For energy produced by coal the cost is around $1 per watt. The Nanosolar Powersheet is tipped to smash this price barrier and produce electricity at around 30 cents per watt.
