Leading Environmental Organization Recognizes Georgia-Pacific Gypsum for Industry's First Microbial Resistant Panels

Georgia-Pacific Gypsum LLC, announces that its paperless Gypsum panels are the first and only in the industry to be listed as GREENGUARD microbial-resistant products by a leading third-party organization, GREENGUARD Environmental Institute. This listing means that the Georgia-Pacific Gypsum paperless panel products resist mold growth and are in compliance with ASTM Standard D 6329-98. This is one of the most rigorous testing standards set by ASTM International, which developments testing guidelines and procedures for building materials, products, systems, and services.

The paperless Gypsum products included in this listing are DensArmor Plus(R) drywall and DensArmor Plus Abuse Guard(R) drywall, which are moisture- and mold-resistant and have been GREENGUARD Certified as low emitting of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). In addition, following a partnership between the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute and the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) both qualify for CHPS credits. CHPS is a national, non-profit organization that works with school districts to improve the quality of education by constructing learning environments that are healthy, efficient and comfortable.

"For remodelers, this new listing and current certifications are especially valuable as they further confirm that our paperless Gypsum panels are ideal for anyone concerned with indoor air quality," said Leo Bissonnette, general manager for Georgia-Pacific Gypsum. "As we have significantly lowered the risk of mold with the paperless panels, they are perfect for moisture- prone basements, bathrooms and kitchens."
