Abstracts Now Available for 2008 Australasian Structural Engineering Conference

The Australasian Structural Engineering Conference has released a list of the abstracts recieved for the event to be held in Melbourne, Australia from 26-27 June 2008.

ASEC 2008 is directed at practicing structural engineers who want to develop their technical expertise, learn about recent projects and innovative ideas, and to find out about new products and services related to structural engineering.

The abstracts submitted include the themes of concrete, failures, steel, timber and wind. Abstract topics and titles include:

  • New Method to model hollowcore floor systems
  • New developments in testing…class L mesh
  • Boston Big Dig Tunnel Collapse
  • Structural failures – lessons
  • Lateral bracing in steel framed residential structures
  • Design of trusses with light gauge cold formed sections
  • Bolted timber connection design
  • Timber beams exposed to fire
  • Wind actions on unusual structures
