Environmental Consultants Back HSE Warnings on Asbestos

Asbestos surveying, management and environmental consultancy Redhill Analysts is offering refurbishment and demolition advice, asbestos consultancy services to ensure clients keep in line with CAR 2006.

Recently the HSE issued a stark warning to the building trade that a failure to carry out checks and surveys for asbestos in property refurbishments is unacceptable,. The HSE have pushed this message after the successful prosecution of a building surveyor who failed to meet his legal duties and carry out an asbestos survey during a refurbishment in Birmingham. Details of this warning can be found at :- http://www.hse.gov.uk/press/2008/gnnwm14608.htm.Working alongside design teams, consultants and contractors, Redhill Analysts can provide project specific intrusive type 3 surveys on all refurbishment and demolition projects. Ranging from large developments to small soft strips and specific equipment works, Redhill Analysts has developed a means of mitigating the impact of asbestos on both cost and programme by utilising their project management team and offering the project specific intrusive type 3 surveys.

Specific areas where works are planned are surveyed by Redhill analysts and a document is produced containing marked-up plans, scopes/specification and items for removal. This means surveying areas of the property not affected by the work is avoided through this method and therefore, cost and timescales are kept to a minimum reducing the impact on both budget and programme.

“Our Project Specific Intrusive Type 3 Surveys mean that no time is wasted producing an unnecessary asbestos register prior to the works -  a register which, in most instances, would be obsolete on completion of the project as the asbestos is removed anyway. Our method ensures that clients keep in line with CAR 2006 and avoid being fined by the HSE in a cost effective and efficient manner” said Peter Harris, Commercial Director, Redhill Analysts.

The Silverdell Group provide managed solutions for asbestos, industrial, remediation and environmental services for large and small projects nationally. Working with partners in public, private, construction and industrial markets, we are committed to creating an improved environment in which to live and work.
