New Paint to Block Wireless Computer Networks and Provide Additional Electronic Security

Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo have developed a paint that can block Wi-Fi signals and make computer networks more secure.

A report in The New Scientist says that the paint contains aluminium-iron oxide that can block electromagnetic waves of up to 182GHz at room temperature. Due to the relatively cheap materials used in the paint the paint is expected to be cheap to manufacture. The simple application of cheap paint is expected to be a welcome addition to workplaces and secure facilities around the world where previous methods of securing wireless networks involved complex and expensive electronis or shielding.
