Rockwool Showcasing Recyclable, Energy Efficient Insulation

Rockwool is showcasing its recyclable, energy-efficient insulation at Grand Designs Live as part of the British Gas Green Streets feature which will demonstrate how easily people can reduce their energy consumption at home and save £200 of their average annual fuel bill.

Rockwool, which is the world's leading producer of insulation, will partner with British Gas to show how insulation can be used to create more effective thermal barriers to keep heat in and cut fuel bills by up to 15% a year*.

British Gas representatives will also be able to give advice to homeowners looking to utilise Government and utility company grants (such as the CERT scheme) to improve home energy efficiency.

Rockwool will be displaying three different insulation products, all of which have been developed for retrofitting to existing properties or installing as part of the insulation package within new build homes.

Using a custom made model, Rockwool will show its medium-density Rockwool Roll (for use as loft insulation); its granulated Rockwool dry cavity wall insulation (which is blown into external wall cavities) and its EcoRock solid wall rendered insulation panels.

Rockwool differs from other insulation products because it is completely recyclable and reusable and is manufactured using igneous volcanic rock which is spun into high grade insulation rolls, boards and sandwich panels. Rockwool has zero Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) and Global Warming Potential (GWP).

Hans Schreuder, managing director, Rockwool UK, states: "We are delighted to be taking part in Grand Designs Live and to be part of the British Gas presence at this ground-breaking show.

"Grand Designs Live is packed with strong ideas for creating environmentally sustainable and visually stunning homes and we hope the model home and insulation ideas we are displaying will help people create homes which are more carbon and thermal efficient, whether they are looking to refurbish an existing property or build their dream house."

Grand Designs Live will run from 25th April - 4th May 2009 at ExCel London.
