Rockwool Insulatio Upgrades Plant in South Wales

Rockwool, the world's leading manufacturer of non-combustible stone wool insulation, has made a significant investment in its South Wales production facility to improve the quality and range of products it manufactures. The investment project will be complete by the end of summer 2009, with the first enhanced products - an insulation slab range in new dimensions - rolling off the new production line now.

The investment follows strong demand for Rockwool's four-in-one insulation products - which provide thermal and acoustic insulation, are non-combustible, recyclable and reusable - as rising fuel bills and environmental concerns lead more householders to improve home energy efficiency.

As part of a key investment in new production line technology, Rockwool will begin producing all plain Rockwool slab products in 1200 x 600mm dimensions, as opposed to the previous 1000 x 600mm slab size. The improvements come as customer feedback highlighted a desire for a slightly larger slab size.

The insulation slab products are amongst the most widely used and versatile in Rockwool's range. They can be used for a wide variety of commercial and residential applications including the thermal insulation of floors, walls and roofs, as well as the acoustic infill of partition walls and ceilings. They can also be used for thermal and acoustic insulation in industrial settings, and for insulating boilers, ducts and vessels within the chemical, petrochemical and power generating industries.

The changes will align the products with industry standard sizes and highlight Rockwool's commitment to customer service.

Andy Halsall from Rockwool said: "Responding to customer needs has always been an absolute priority for Rockwool, which is why we have invested significantly in this production line improvement. The changes in the Rockwool slab dimensions are one of many improvements we have made in response to consumer demand."
