Hurricane Safety and Preparedness Campaign in Florida

Precision Door Service, one of the largest garage door service companies in the U.S., announced today a new campaign to promote awareness of hurricane safety and preparedness in Florida.

"When we looked at the research on hurricane wind damage in relation to the garage door, we realized just how critical an issue this is for Florida homeowners." said Bill Walden, President of Precision Door Service. "An improperly reinforced garage door could be potentially devastating for a home during a hurricane. We want to do our part to make sure people get their garage doors ready."

The Florida Alliance for Safe Homes found that "80% of residential hurricane wind damage starts with wind entry through the garage door." And although building codes changed after Hurricane Andrew, a recent Amarr study for hurricane preparedness found that "fewer than 50% of consumers in hurricane prone areas know that their garage doors are required to meet building code criteria for wind pressures."
