Alexan Carlyle, a new apartment community in Alexandria's Carlyle neighborhood, today announced that it has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star rating for energy efficiency, making it one of the only multi-family residences in the area to hold the designation.
To qualify for the rating, Alexan Carlyle installed an upgraded and more efficient HVAC and air filtration system and had its windows and insulation built and installed specifically to cut down on airflow infiltration. The energy-efficient features created a tighter shell for the units which will allow electricity consumption - and residents' heating and cooling costs - to decrease in the winter and summer months, according to Karen Bunch, property manager.
"The Energy Star rating for our homes is recognition that we are committed to providing a green living environment that reflects the lifestyle of our residents, many of who demonstrate their commitment every day by walking to neighborhood amenities and using nearby public transportation," Bunch said.
Alexan Carlyle also announced it has won an award for "Best Rental Clubhouse Interior Design" from the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association and recently completed a second lobby for residents featuring concierge and mail pickup services; a fitness center outfitted with cardio and weight-training equipment and flat-screen TVs; and a landscaped courtyard adjacent to the pool with a seating and grilling area.
To arrange a tour, visit the Leasing Office, 800 John Carlyle Street, open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
