Chusid Associates Lists Best 10 New Building Products of 2009

Chusid Associates, the nation's leading marketing consultant for building products, has announced a list of 10 Best New Building Products of 2009, available on the BuildingProductMarketing.com blog.  The list highlights not only innovative products but also the important construction industry trends and developments that they represent.

"Innovation is blossoming in every corner of the construction industry," declares Michael Chusid, president of Chusid Associates.  "There have been significant developments on so many fronts.  Not surprisingly, sustainable products are being introduced at an unprecedented rate, but invention can be found in almost every sector of the industry. We call it The 10 Best, but it's more of a report than a contest.  I would consider this list a big success if it inspires somebody else to create even more innovative products."

The Chusid list not only names the products and their functions, but explains the broader trends and developments associated with each innovation. "We want to shine a spotlight," explains Chusid, "on products that advance the industry and that define the cutting edge of new technology, as well as that type of luminous thinking that re-invents an existing technology or solves an age-old problem.  These products are inspirational, and the trends they represent challenge a lot of old thinking.  We hope it will provoke manufacturers, design professionals and owners to do their own inventive thinking and reconsider some 'accepted' ideas that may have outgrown their usefulness."

The Chusid 10 Best includes electricity from urine, railroad bridges made of recycled plastic, low-energy low-CO2 bricks made from fly ash, a better drain trap, concrete that conducts electricity, a faster and nano-technology concrete densifier, wireless-friendly building communications, finger-protection from closing doors, a better system for washing painting tools, and a faster-installing preformed door header for steel stud framing.
