EMCOR Unit Wins Construction Contract for Wastewater Treatment Plant in Miami

EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE: EME), a Fortune 500® leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses, announced that its Poole and Kent Company of Florida subsidiary has received a general construction contract from the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department for the South District Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Miami, Florida.

Poole and Kent’s work will involve construction of a new Effluent Pump Station at the High Level Disinfection Facility at the Miami South District WWTP. This multi-level facility will require extensive dewatering below sea level, and installation of a steel cofferdam and a concrete tremie seal. Poole and Kent will also be responsible for the installation of large diameter piping, surge tanks, duct banks, and extensive electrical, switchgear, and variable frequency drives, as well as six 20.5 million gallon per day vertical pumps.

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department’s South District Wastewater Treatment Plant is one of the largest deep bed sand filter systems in the United States. It helps set the stage for future water reuse and reclamation in one of Florida’s most populated areas.
