Metabo Expands Line Of Rotary Hammers

Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, has added a new rotary hammer to its extensive line.

The KHE 54 Spline Drive combination hammer, which allows users to quickly and easily move between hammer drilling and chiseling operations without switching tools, is ideal for hammer drilling and for small to medium chiseling jobs. User comfort and safety are integral to the design of the new hammer. The large rear handle enables two-handed operation in harder applications, and the gear switch is extra large for easy operation, even when the user is wearing gloves. Ergonomic, rounded-off areas on the handle and motor casing allow users to find a comfortable working position. Vibration reduction construction and rubber insulated handles ease user fatigue and discomfort, while Metabo’s S-automatic safety clutch and extra long front handle protect against kick-back.

The 9.6 amp motor has a no-load speed of 135 to 275 rpm, and 1,300 to 2,600 bpm. Metabo’s Vario-Tacho-Constamatic electronic speed control enables the tool to maintain a virtually constant speed between load and no-load for maximum drilling speed. To protect the gear mechanism and motor from overheating, the overload clutch limits the maximum amount of torque applied if the tool blocks during operation. A tough magnesium die-cast gear housing, auto-stop carbon brushes, a spring-loaded lip seal to prevent dust penetration, a winding protection grid, and a durable pneumatic high-performance hammer mechanism increase the new tool’s service life.

The KHE 54 offers high rotational torque of 531 inch-lbs. and variable impact energy from 1.0 to 9.0 joules per blow. Its optimum drilling range is from 1/2” to 1-1/2” with a maximum capacity in concrete of 1-9/16” using solid bits, and 4” using core bits. Metabo’s new CODE! anti-theft system is available on the KHE 54. CODE! operates via a one-touch infrared remote control to protect the tool against unauthorized use as reliably and easily as an electronic immobilization system on a car. Owners can enable and disable multiple CODE!-protected rotary hammers using a single key or assign each tool either its own key for a single user or multiple keys for multiple authorized users.

In the event of a lost key, only the key needs to be replaced, not the tool. The KHE 54 measures 18-1/2”, weighs 13 lbs. and comes standard with a carrying case and depth gauge.
