George Wimpey is developing an integrated solution that will enable the company to realise its vision of managing the full lifecycle of its housebuilding process – from land acquisition to build and sale. Asta Development has won a contract to provide one part of this total solution, an enterprise-wide project management system for managing the build programme. Other components in the overall solution include estimating, procurement, financials and CRM.
The Asta solution is based around their UK leading professional project management system for the construction industry. It also includes a progress reporting component to eventually allow site managers to update progress via the web. A new web-based National Reporting Database provides critical business information on the progress of the entire build programme to a wider audience within George Wimpey UK. The overall package will allow George Wimpey to manage some 2.3 million tasks at any one time. The contract will cover the supply of project management software, consultancy and training and then support, initially for four years, across all of George Wimpey’s 27 regional offices in the UK.
