The New Urban Guild Announces Their Autumn Doors Workshop

The New Urban Guild announces their Autumn Workshop in South Beach, November 10 & 11.

The workshop will focus on door & window details in a range of styles.

The Workshop site is in the heart of South Beach on world-famous Lincoln Road; the date is at the beginning of the best weather on South Beach... typically, it's sunny and balmy while the rest of America is turning cold at that time of year.

But as for the Workshop... each Guild Workshop focuses on proper detailing of a particular building part (doors and windows, in this case) in a range of styles. Faculty members are some of the best traditional architects currently practicing. The subject matter is of interest both to builders and to architects because it bridges the gap between theory and practice. Many builders are known for their craftsmanship, but the best also search out principles of good architecture; the Workshop makes that easy. The architectural profession focuses much energy on theory, but the best traditional architects augment principles with sound detailing. The Workshop bridge runs this direction, too. Because the best developers are also interested in getting the details right, there will also be a number of development team members present.
