ManuBuild Consortium Wins €50 Million EU Funding To Research Housing Supply

ManuBuild, a European consortium representing 10 individual countries, has secured €50 million worth of research programme over a four-year period, with a key focus on the supply of housing.

It is the largest amount of EU funding ever awarded to the industry and promises a step change from current construction methods towards an era of unconstrained design with ultra-efficient manufacture and industrial-style construction.

Representing Europe’s leading construction, manufacturing and academic groups including CIRIA, a core focus of ManuBuild will be the delivery of inspirational and affordable housing designs through a highly efficient process that reduces wasted labour, time and materials.

The initiative is endorsed by the European Network of Construction Companies for Research and Development (ENCORD1) and inline with the European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP2) research agenda. Following a period of consultation with the construction industry in the summer and early autumn, ManuBuild will be formally launched later this year.
