Smart construction companies can save significant amounts of money by reducing the amount of packaging waste they dispose of. A new guide from Envirowise will show them how.
Entitled 'Managing Packaging Waste On Your Construction Site', this new publication provides practical information to help construction businesses reduce the millions of tonnes of unused materials thrown away by the industry each year. In fact, of the 90 million tonnes of construction and demolition waste each year, around 34% of waste from each construction project is derived from packaging and materials delivered to site.
The financial implications of this are enormous. Landfill tax on non hazardous waste is £21 per tonne, plus the cost of disposal. Add to this the cost of materials purchased, on-site waste handling labour and disposal costs, and the potential for savings becomes obvious.
