Critical Power Protection Installed for High Speed Rail Link

Power protection for the stunning new St Pancras International was provided by a Chloride 70-NET UPS system. Chloride has supplied six 60 kVA units to safeguard the wide variety of critical power applications at this busy high-speed rail link to the continent.

The flexibility of the 70-NET family offers major advantages for installations where there are varied and diverse requirements in terms of battery autonomy, power, redundancy and harmonic control. Available in a variety of sizes from 10 kVA to 60 kVA, it combines maximum flexibility with reduced weight and dimensions. Full protection for the load is maintained using advanced systems encompassing software solutions, parallel kits, safety and disconnecting devices, system bypass switches and sophisticated communications. Vector control technology, with its ultra-fast digital signal processing, eliminates power disturbances and interruptions in real-time to provide reliable ‘clean’, high-quality AC power.

Importantly 70-NET is fully compatible with Chloride’s industry-leading remote monitoring and diagnostic tool, LIFE.net.

This installation continues Chloride’s strong association with the rail industry, Network Rail and High Speed 1 in Britain. The Company also provided the Uninterruptible Power Supplies for the track signalling and communications systems on the high-speed line between St Pancras International and the Channel Tunnel. It also has a number of existing UPS situated in First Capital Connect and London Underground infrastructure serving St Pancras.
