Retrofit Controlled Hot Water Recirculation System for Space Saving Tankless Water Heaters

Laing Thermotech Inc. is once again setting the standard in energy-efficient pump products. The industry leader has created the ACT-909 -TANKLESS, the first retrofit hot water circulation system designed for tankless water heater systems.

ACT-909 -TANKLESS

As its name indicates, the ACT-909 -TANKLESS provides a controlled hot water recirculation system that allows consumers to take better advantage of space-saving tankless water heaters. Once installed, the pump maintains a constant temperature at all fixtures in the house, providing instant access to hot water. This, in turn, makes it possible for homeowners to enjoy the full benefit of having a tankless water heater system.

Using the ACT-909-TANKLESS to enhance a tankless water heater system is ideal because it conserves resources. It saves water, energy and money because water is immediately hot when it comes out of the faucet, shower and other fixtures. So there's no need to waste water by letting it run down the drain while waiting for it to "warm up".

"Laing is pleased to be able to afford consumers the luxury and convenience of having instant hot water at all fixtures in their home," said Scott S. Shimer, Laing's CEO. "With the ACT-909 -TANKLESS, they can easily retrofit the pump to their homes and benefit from having a true instant hot water system."

The ACT-909 -TANKLESS installs beneath the fixture farthest from the water heater where hot water takes the longest to arrive. A built-in temperature sensor controls the system temperature, as well as the length of time the tankless heater will operate during the recirculation period. In addition, the pump includes an "Auto closure" device that prevents any future mixing of hot to cold or cold to hot water.

The ACT-909-TANKLESS, which does not require a recirculation line for installation, features:

  • a compact spherical motor design
  • a programmable, 24-hour timer with multiple on/off settings
  • virtually silent operation
  • 120 volt 60 cycle
  • 98 watt .9 amp
  • a 6-foot power cord

The new ACT-909-TANKLESS retrofit pump is one of many innovative products created by Laing Thermotech. Laing is responsible for the first practical do-it-yourself, instant hot water circulation system, as well a successful line of low-energy-consumption, fractional-horsepower pumps for residential, solar and industrial use.
