Lime Energy and Nexxus Lighting Combine Forces to Expand the Use of LED Light Bulbs

Lime Energy Company (NASDAQ:LIME) and Nexxus Lighting, Inc. (NASDAQ:NEXS) today announced that they are collaborating to expand the use of Nexxus Lighting's new Array™ Lighting LED light bulb in numerous projects to help Lime Energy's customers save energy and reduce carbon emissions.

Lime Energy has successfully installed thousands of LED solutions in resort hospitality, casinos, and business hotels. Through its long history of evaluating and installing energy efficient lighting applications, Lime Energy has emerged as a leader in applying solid state LED systems in commercial lighting applications. Based on their evaluation of available LED product offerings, Lime selected and installed Nexxus Lighting's Array LED light bulbs in several recent hotel projects.

“When meeting with our customers, they convey much frustration when considering LED technologies,” said Cliff Knutson of Lime Energy and a 23 year veteran of energy efficiency. “Since LED manufacturers are coming out of the woodwork and bombarding our customers with controversial information, the customer has a difficult time knowing what to believe, let alone the best product to use in a specific application. Lime has taken on the challenge of evaluating the LED technology so we can assist with confidence in the recommendation process and provide units with the best reliability, color rendition, beam patterns and dimming capability. It is through this service that we are able to help the customer make the very best choice in the emerging world of long-lasting and efficient LED lighting. Based on the installations we have done with the new Nexxus Array LED technology, customers have told us they like the overall light output and color of the bulbs and look forward to no lamp changes for an extended period. Energy and labor savings are vital to our hotel clients as they deal with tight operating budgets and look anxiously at state and local directives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Installing Array Lighting LED bulbs is one huge step in solving both of these problems for our clients,” added Knutson.

Nexxus Lighting's Array LED light bulbs have been installed in a number of applications including hallways, lobbies, stairwells and elevators as well as conference rooms and offices. The Array LED light bulbs provide over 80% energy savings versus conventional incandescent lamps. As a result, the demand for the new product is growing.

Nexxus Lighting and its Array Lighting brand meets required quality and performance standards. Nexxus is an Energy Star Partner and, as one of the technology leaders in LED lighting, has provided direct input in establishing the Energy Star Standard for LED lamps that is currently being drafted. In addition, Array Lamp packaging provides detailed labeling information so that prospective customers know what they are getting in terms of light output, color and color rendering, as well as life. Array lamps have been tested to the new LM-79 standards for measuring light output by an Energy Star approved independent lab and additional testing is ongoing. In addition the new LM-80 standard for light output depreciation is being adopted by Nexxus Lighting to ensure that all Array LED lamps meet the standard for lamp life and light output depreciation. Through the use of Nexxus Lightings patent pending selective heat sink technology and the use of thermal imaging cameras to measure precise component temperatures, Nexxus strives to ensure that the LED's operate within their proper temperature profile and achieve the specified 50,000 hour lamp life. All Nexxus Array light bulbs come with a three year limited warranty.

“We are very excited to be working with Lime Energy to help their clients lower their energy bills and adopt a new eco-friendly product offering,” stated Carina Betts, National Account Manager for Nexxus Lighting. “The projects that have been installed so far have validated the products performance and with more projects in the pipeline, we look forward to working with the team at Lime to meet the demand for energy efficient lighting with an LED solution that we feel is superior to other LED lamp offerings today.”

“Lime Energy covers the nation with 16 offices, so we are ideally suited as one point of contact and delivery for a company with facilities nationwide and in fact, half of Lime Energy's private sector business comes from multi-site customers across the US,” added Dan Parke, Lime Energy President.
