Metabo Launches New SB18 LT Hammer Drill/Driver Under Lithium-Ion PowerMasterSeries

Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, recently unveiled the SB18 LT hammer drill/driver from the lithium-ion PowerMasterSeries of 18 V cordless power tools.

SB18 LT Hammer Drill/Driver

At only 8-13/16" long, Metabo's new SB18 LT hammer drill/driver is more compact than other cordless models in its class to increase ease of use in tight spaces. The cordless tool can fit into even more cramped spaces by removing the chuck to drive screws with the 1/4" hexagon recessed spindle using an accessory bit retainer. Unique to Metabo's tools, the recessed hex spindle technology allows the hammer drill/driver to work in constricted areas that other cordless tools cannot, such as maneuvering around joists or in assembly operations. A built-in LED light supplies greater visibility for dark spaces, also increasing versatility.

The SB18 LT hammer drill/driver is ideal for users facing space restrictions in the field, such as electricians, contractors, remodelers, cable installers and HVAC technicians, or others working in rugged industrial and commercial applications where a highly-reliable and powerful cordless tool is required. In addition to the compact size, the SB18 LT weighs only 5.3 lbs and is lighter than other tools in its class, including Metabo's SB18 LTX hammer drill/driver for heavy-duty drilling applications.

The Li-Power Plus 18 V, 2.6 Ah battery provides power for even the toughest applications, while still providing the longest run time. Benefitting from Metabo's unique air-cooled charging technology, the SB18 LT charges 30% faster by utilizing guided air flow ducting that cools the battery pack to an optimum temperature level during charging. Faster charging extends useable tool life per charge for increased productivity.

Electronic Single Cell Protection (ESCP), Metabo's revolutionary cell monitoring technology, prevents damage from complete discharge and from overcharging by electronically monitoring the battery's individual cells while in use and during charging. This increases battery life and productivity.

The powerful cordless tool provides the features necessary to operate in rugged applications without the higher price tag. The user's tool investment is protected by Metabo's industry-leading XXL three-year warranty covering the tools, batteries and chargers.

Metabo's Variospeed full-wave electronic speed control allows the user to easily regulate the speed from the lowest to highest value. The hammer drill/driver offers a no-load speed of 0 rpm to 400 rpm in first gear and 0 rpm to 1,400 rpm in second gear, and comes equipped with a dual range torque adjustment to set the torque to either 13 inch-lbs through 31 inch-lbs or 31 inch-lbs through 114 inch-lbs. The rugged tool features an aluminum die cast gear housing for increased durability.

The cordless tool can operate continuously with up to 239 inch-lbs of torque (soft case) and, in the event of extreme resistance, up to 549 inch-lbs of torque for momentary maximum spikes (hard case). Equipped with a 1/2" chuck, the hammer drill has a drilling capacity of 1/2" in steel, 1-3/16" in wood and 3/8" in concrete. The SB18 LT offers a maximum of 28,000 impacts per minute in hammer drill mode.

The SB18 LT joins the BS18 LT drill/driver as part of the LT line of the PowerMasterSeries, offering a more economical option than the LTX models.
