Zircon Takes CenterVision Technology to the Next Level with New ProScanner OneStep

You’ve never seen anything like it! Zircon’s ProScanner™ OneStep™ doesn’t look or work anything like your old stud finder.

With a futuristic new design and patent-pending CenterVision™ technology that finds the center of the stud with just one pass, ProScanner OneStep sets a new state-of-the-art for scanning. It all starts with a floating scanner head, featuring a bright backlit LCD display and non-marring pads to protect even the most delicate wall finishes

. The head locks into fully articulating arms that connect to the handle. Not only is this an ergonomic improvement that allows more flexible movement for the user, it also enhances accuracy by ensuring that the scanner lies flat against the wall if the unit is tilted – a major cause of errors.

There’s also a new, one-touch, fully erasable EasyMark™ system so you can mark exactly where to nail or drill.

Besides CenterVision technology, ProScanner OneStep includes a number of other new, fully automatic, "active intelligence" features:

  • Auto on/off – automatically turns the tool on when the head is pushed against the wall.
  • AutoCal™ – calibrates automatically when the tool is placed on the wall and continuously recalibrates while it is in use. If the ProScanner OneStep is positioned initially over a stud, it automatically recalibrates and indicates the stud direction when it is moved.
  • Auto DeepScan® – switches seamlessly and automatically from normal scan depth of 3/4-inch to 1-1/2 inch as the wall thickness dictates.

Users will still find all the other Zircon features they’ve come to count on including AC WireWarning™, an important safeguard that continuously detects hot electrical wires in all modes, so you can avoid nailing into hot electric wires.

ProScanner OneStep has three scanning modes:

  1. Stud Mode to find wood or metal studs or joists;
  2. Metal Mode to search exclusively for metal;
  3. AC Scan Mode, which finds and traces hot electrical wires, even when they’re encased in plastic conduit.

For added convenience and safety, the unit can be switched to the off position when not in use.

New Core Technology At ProScanner OneStep’s core is Zircon’s exclusive CenterVision technology, the first major advance in stud finding technology since Zircon invented the original electronic stud finder in 1980. Until now, users had to find both stud edges and then figure out the middle for themselves. With CenterVision technology, that time-consuming, semi-accurate procedure is out the window! In one quick pass, CenterVision tools pinpoint the precise center of the stud every time and up to 4 inches wide.

The ProScanner’s LCD display indicates both stud edges and center, while an audio tone and dual, patented SpotLite® Pointing Systems also indicate stud center.

The display indicates stud edges for applications where missing a stud is important.

"This is an exciting time for electronic scanning tools, and Zircon is proud to once again raise the bar with ProScanner OneStep," stated President Robert Coler. "Since inventing the original stud finder, we’ve always driven ourselves to provide the very best technology and tools to get important jobs done quickly, easily, and right the first time. ProScanner OneStep, along with CenterVision, are not just improvements; they represent major advancements to the category that can’t be duplicated by any other manufacturer. Once someone has tried a CenterVision product, it’s hard to imagine why they would want to do it any other way."

ProScanner OneStep is expected to retail for $59.95 and will be available this spring at leading home centers, hardware stores and professional outlets. Other Zircon products with CenterVision™ technology are available now, including the MultiScanner® OneStep (MSRP $49.95) and the TriScanner® OneStep (MSRP $39.95).

All come with a limited, one-year warranty. To locate a store near you, call Zircon toll-free at 1-800-245-9265.
