Concrete Construction Magazine Announces Winner of Decorative Concrete Project of the Year

CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION magazine has selected Colours’ (Placerville, Calif.) Flor De Vida project as its fourth annual Decorative Concrete Project of the Year.

Produced on a 650-square-foot slab for a studio/gallery floor in a private home, the winning project includes a complicated color-burst pattern in the center of the room which was a difficult project to execute and dye color. It took one man three and a half days to complete the diamond-cut engraving for this project. The color blending on each diamond element starts with a color at one tip that bleeds seamlessly to another color at the opposite tip.

“CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION proudly recognizes this year’s winner as a clear leader in the field of concrete design,” said editor in chief, Tim Gregorski. “Through their award-winning design and industry-leading business philosophy, their significant contributions breathe new life into the spirit of design in the commercial concrete community.”

2009’s Project of the Year winners represent outstanding artistry in decorative concrete across the country. The winning projects embody the best concrete artistry has to offer, a review of the best design and techniques of commercial decorative concrete. The winners are featured in the November issue of CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION. They include one overall “Project of the Year” and 10 honorees.
