Simpad, a 3D Lean-Design services company for homebuilders, and purveyors of Blackpoint Builder Services today announced that the Inland Homes® Production Team is implementing Blackpoint Builder Services to convert to a “lean-design” model of homebuilding.
Inland Homes® Architects and Construction Professionals will use Blackpoint Builder Services to create Building Information Models that take account of the changes, including structural options, made to a home plan during the sales process, an area of the Inland Homes’ building process that has historically been a cost center. Blackpoint Builder Services will provide the Inland Homes Team with real-time, lot-specific, “as-sold” construction drawings, as well as quantity take-offs and estimates, all produced with the lean design approach to building. The company has historically used third-party architectural designers, but struggled with plan errors and had to rely on trades for detailed quantity take-offs.
Now, the Inland Homes Construction Professionals will have access to “as-sold” construction drawings on-demand, at a fraction of the cost of making changes manually to their master plan sets. Early case study results from Blackpoint Builder Services show that a builder can create as many as 500 lot-specific plans annually with just one employee.
“Inland Homes is already ramping back up to take advantage of the changing economy, and we wanted to get our plans into a system that could scale with us,” said Leslie Day, President of Inland Homebuilding Group, Inc. “Blackpoint Builder Services solves a costly problem that has plagued us: plan errors. It’s nothing short of remarkable what Blackpoint Builder Services has provided to ensure correctness in our processes. We are excited about finally having a tool that can provide accurate real-time take off information that will improve our knowledge of true cost as we negotiate with trade partners.”
