Incheon Bridge Wins International Design Contest for Unique Appearance

Incheon Bridge has already become a symbol of Incheon. Now Incheon Bridge Observatory, chosen as the prizewinner in an authoritative international design contest with its unique appearance, is expected to become as famous as the bridge itself.

Incheon Bridge Opened a Sea Route

On the surface of the boundless ocean a giant stroke is drawn. It is Incheon Bridge, 21.38 kilometers long linking between Songdo International City and Youngjongdo Island, which opened last year. The longest bridge in Korea is 74 meters high and as a cable-stayed bridge it also ranks as the world's fifth in length.

Incheon Bridge Observatory succeeded in expressing the image of Incheon as a distribution city and its nature, and further its vision by utilizing the structures made of old containers.

Containers are transformed into a lookout

Located at a park in Songdo International City, 'Incheon Bridge Observatory - Ocean Scope' has a lovely scene of Incheon Bridge and the sunset with its distinctive exterior. The observatory succeeded in expressing the image of Incheon as a distribution city, and further its vision by utilizing old containers. It is equipped with exhibition space and a lookout.

Unique Design Attracts the Attention of the World

'Incheon Bridge Observatory - Ocean Scope' is drawing attention with its unusual architectural style. Recently it has been chosen as '2010 Best of the Best' for product design of the Red Dot Design Award, one of the world’s three design contests. Incheon City plans on expanding tourist amenities and plans to develop it as the city’s representative tour course along with Compact Smart City, Tomorrow City, Central Park, Canalwalk, Milano Design City, etc.
