Cogdell SM Begins Work on New Medical Office Building Project in Washington

Cogdell Spencer ERDMAN(SM) announced today that it has commenced a $24.7 million medical office building project on the campus of MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington.

The company is providing fully integrated real estate services including design/build and development on the medical office building.  Construction is scheduled to begin next month on the four-story, 83,700 square foot (SF) medical office building and 49 space underground parking garage.  The project is scheduled for completion late summer 2011.

The project is the second with MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital announced this month.  On May 6, 2010, the company announced a new 58,500 SF medical office building project with MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital, located in Bonney Lake, Washington.  The facility is 73 percent pre-leased and is currently wholly-owned by Cogdell Spencer ERDMAN, though the company will offer a percentage for physician-tenant investment.

MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital will serve as the anchor tenant for this project, offering services including: pulmonary, nephrology, ob-gyn, orthopedic, imaging, pain management, physical and occupational therapy, lab and pharmacy.

"Over the years, MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital continued to grow," said Allison Garr, Administrator of Campus Development at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital. "The construction of the new Good Samaritan Medical Office Building on the hospital site by Cogdell Spencer ERDMAN is another step to help fulfill the mission of creating a robust medical campus in Puyallup. By having medical offices close by, physicians will have easy access to their hospitalized patients or immediate care for their patients that may need to be admitted."

MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital is a not-for-profit 225-bed acute care facility fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.  The new facility is intended to qualify for LEED Silver certification upon completion.

"Cogdell Spencer ERDMAN is excited to contribute to the ongoing success of MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital.  This new project will allow the hospital to expand ambulatory services and bring a complementary consortium of physicians together under one roof to better serve the healthcare needs of Puyallup and the surrounding communities," said Paul Aigner, President of the Northwest Region of Cogdell Spencer ERDMAN.
