The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. Announces Plans to Open First Hotel in Russia

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. will open its first property in Russia mid-year 2006, a 332-room hotel in Moscow.

The premiere of the 11-story hotel will offer sophisticated travelers a new address that redefines service and luxurious accommodations in the capital city.

"Our expansion into Russia signifies an exciting strategic move for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. With the Russian economy thriving, it is the ideal time to establish our brand in the capital. Ideally located near the Kremlin, Russia's seat of power for almost eight centuries, and the adjacent Red Square with its colorful domes of St. Basil's Cathedral, we look forward to welcoming Muscovites to the new hotel as well as discerning business and leisure travelers," said Simon F. Cooper, president and chief operating officer.

Located just off Red Square and within walking distance of the Kremlin, St. Basil's Cathedral, Lenin's Mausoleum and the Bolshoi Theater, The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow offers the ideal location for business and leisure travelers.

The project was deigned by one of Moscow's largest and most experienced architectural firms, Mosproject. Peter Silling of Hotel Interior Design, also responsible for The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin, was called upon to design the Moscow hotel interiors. His interiors will reflect the grandeur of Imperial Russia's Classicism Era (circa 1780 - 1840). The hotel's grand design palette is complemented by state-of-the-art amenities and superior finish details. Silling has selected to incorporate locally mined marbles, rich woods and antique and modern Russian artwork into all aspects of the interiors.

The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow will feature the largest guest rooms in the city measuring 452 square feet/42 square meters plus 76 suites including The Ritz-Carlton Suite.

All guest rooms will showcase polished dark cherry woods and burl wood veneers while bathrooms measuring a minimum of 107 square feet/10 meters will be finished with marble from the Altai Mountains.

Hi-tech guest room features include electronic room control touch panels that allow guests to conveniently control lighting, air-conditioning, curtains and music/alarm clock preferences from bed.

The signature Ritz-Carlton Club Level will be located on the top two floors of the hotel offering impressive views of Red Square and will provide an exceptional level of privacy and exclusive services for guests. Club Level guests will enjoy complimentary, round-the-clock food presentations and dedicated butler/concierge services. All guest rooms will be furnished with signature Ritz-Carlton beds, LCD televisions, multi-line telephones and high-speed Internet access.

Two restaurants are planned and include an all-day dining facility and a specialty outlet.

Guests can also enjoy the choice of three lounges and bars including a large rooftop bar in the cupola offering panoramic views of the city's skyline.

The 7,000 square foot/650 square meter ballroom; pre-function area of 6,600 square feet/615 square meters and conference facilities complete with business center totaling over 7,000 square feet/650 square meters offer guests a fresh alternative for meetings and private functions.
