JELD-WEN Shores up Its Offerings of Coastal Products that Stand up to Storms

Following one of the worst storm seasons on record nationwide and a rising tide of strict building codes, JELD-WEN is shoring up its entire line of coastal and hurricane-certified offerings with new products and technology.

JELD-WEN currently has more than 200 coastal certifications for entry doors and windows. The company also offers a range of high-performance materials, from hurricane-rated fiberglass to super-resistant wood, commercial-grade cladding and impact-resistant glass that help protect homes in extreme environments. The accompanying fact sheet outlines more details on these coastal options. That’s good news for homeowners and builders. JELD-WEN® reliable windows and doors are essential for helping protect homes against the damaging triple-threat of moisture, UV rays and wind in coastal climates.

“Strong, reliable windows and doors are a priority for any homeowner, but in areas that experience high winds and frequent coastal storms, they are absolutely essential,” said Steve Brant, JELD-WEN product marketing manager for windows. “JELD-WEN has more window and door options than ever before to meet the need.”

To provide products that are suitable for coastal climates, JELD-WEN subjects its products to severe tests. Wood window components made from solid pine AuraLast™ wood were left out in rain in the wettest places on earth for more than five years or subjected to ravenous termite farms. Other windows and doors are hit with two-by-four lumber projectiles, traveling at approximately 35 miles per hour. JELD-WEN has run over doors with trucks, hit them with golf balls, made them withstand hours under intense heat lamps, and subjected them to hurricane-force winds – all in the name of developing the most reliable windows and doors on the market. To help builders and homeowners select appropriate windows and doors, JELD-WEN is providing information and highlighting specific products that are most suitable for coastal regions.
