Leica Cooperates With Stanley Works On Product For The US Home Improvement Market

In other news, Leica Geosystems announced today its Consumer Products Division (CPD) and The Stanley Works have joined forces to develop a laser distance meter for the U.S. home improvement market.

As the inventor of hand-held laser distance measuring technology, Leica Geosystems will provide its product innovation and development expertise to the project.

The new product, to be sold within the STANLEY® FatMax™ line of tools, will benefit from the marketing expertise and brand recognition of Stanley as well as Stanley’s access to its network of distributors and retailers. With this affordable, easy-to-use product, true laser measuring technology will become available to a much broader group of users in the U.S.

By offering the advantages of laser measuring technology with a user-friendly design, the new product is specifically designed to meet the needs of expert do-it-yourselfers and professionals. It will be differentiated from existing Leica Geosystems professional grade laser distance meters through specification, functionality and price.

The proposed launch timing for the new STANLEY® FatMax™ Laser Distance Meter is planned for late 2005.
