New Guide to the U.S. Wood Moulding Market

Reportlinker.com announces that a new market research report is available in its catalogue: Wood Moulding Market (http://www.reportlinker.com/p0240329/Wood-Moulding-Market.html)

The Catalina Market Profile on Wood Moulding is a guide to the sales and profit-oriented opportunities in this market. This comprehensive database covers U.S. shipments, imports, end-use markets, factors affecting domestic demand, distribution and demographics, exports, the cost structure of U.S. moulding plants, and competitive environment.

The U.S. wood moulding supply is calculated from U.S. Department of Commerce statistics by collecting data on domestic plant shipments and adding imports (Section 1). The U.S. supply is calculated on a dollar and unit basis. Separate calculations were made for softwood and hardwood and unfinished and prefinished mouldings, as well as price trends.

Section 2 and 3 analyze the market's source of supply, whether U.S.- or foreign-based. U.S. shipments are compiled from Department of Commerce surveys. Shipments are from all domestic manufacturing facilities, whether facilities are owned by U.S.- or foreign-based companies, and whether or not plants specialize (50% or more of total facility revenues) in unfinished noncustom wood moulding, finished wood mouldings for mirror and picture frames, other noncustom wood mouldings, and custom mouldings. Unfinished noncustom wood moulding shipments are further segmented by pine, other softwood, and hardwood species. Other sectors are broken out for softwoods and hardwoods. U.S. import data is derived from U.S. Customs records. Imports' share is calculated for softwoods and hardwoods and unfinished and prefinished products.

Catalina supplies data on the cost structure and profitability of U.S. plants specializing in the manufacture and sale of wood moulding (Section 4). Comparisons are made for plants specializing in unfinished noncustom wood mouldings and prefinished noncustom wood mouldings. Data also follow the supply and pricing trends of softwood and hardwood lumber. Shipments by state are provided as well.

Section 5 profiles 14 leading U.S. wood moulding suppliers, including manufacturers of solid, finger-joint, and MDF products. Profiles include sales estimates for most competitors in order to calculate industry market concentration.

Purchases by end-use market are analyzed in Section 6. Purchases are segmented for residential and nonresidential markets. Residential markets are further segmented in builder and manufactured housing markets, remodeling and replacement contractors, DIY and BIY purchasers, and property managers. Nonresidential markets are segmented into new and remodeling and replacement contractors and direct government and business purchases. This section also provides data on U.S. export shipments by product and by major country of destination.

Catalina correlated these trends with the factors driving wood moulding demand in order to estimate the data provided in the previous sections (Section 7). This section analyzes data on U.S. residential and nonresidential construction activity, residential remodeling markets, and other factors affecting U.S. demand.

Action oriented executives are urged to use the comprehensive statistical database and competitor information to uncover growing product lines, end-use markets, distribution, and profitable operating strategies. Executives are urged to compute their own company's market share and compare their company's operating ratios to the industry averages as part of this process.
