Boral Composites Announces Construction of New Plant in North Carolina

Boral Composites Inc., an independent, wholly-owned subsidiary of Boral USA, has announced plans to build a manufacturing facility in East Spencer, N.C. adjacent to Boral's existing brick manufacturing facility. When fully operational, the Rowan County facility will employ 25 people.

"We are excited about this new opportunity in North Carolina as it is consistent with our overall US growth strategy," said Mike Kane, President and CEO of Boral USA. "Instrumental in our efforts to bring jobs to this region were our partners at the N.C. Department of Commerce, N.C. Community Colleges System, Rowan County, RowanWorks, the Town of East Spencer and Duke Energy."

The plant will be built to the United States Green Building Council's (USGBC) Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) standards, minimizing energy use and conserving other resources.  In addition to being built to LEED standards, the plant will manufacture a line of exterior building products made primarily of recycled and rapidly renewable materials.

According to Brian Below, General Manager of Boral Composites Inc., "We selected this site because of the support from local, county, and state government agencies, our long standing ties to the community through our Boral Bricks business, the availability of a skilled and able workforce, and a desirable geographic location to efficiently service our customers."
