XGrass Enviro--100% Recyclable Synthetic Turf Product

Manufacturers are quickly learning that time spent investigating new uses for internal production waste or engineering downfall back into the manufacturing process makes sense for many reasons.

Most importantly, reducing disposal of production waste is undisputedly better for the environment. XGrass™ Inc. immediately saw the value a recycled turf product would have for the landscape industry.

Manufacturing the yarn that eventually becomes woven into a final turf product is like any other process; waste in some form is imminent. However waste does not equal sub-par product as the word might imply. It is often high quality material that doesn’t reach the final product phase (think end cuts or over-runs etc). In the past this material was simply disposed of. Today processes are being re-engineered to get this downfall back into the manufacturing system to produce high quality products and reduce permanent waste. This line of thinking lead to the creation of XGrass™Enviro which is currently available in three styles: XGrass™E100P, XGrassE™Pro, & XGrass™EPremier. The XGrass™E100P features 100% recycled content while the EPro and EPremier feature 70% recycled content by face weight. “We are excited about the potential this new category of synthetic grass can bring to the landscape design industry. When quality products can be produced in concert with environmentally responsible manufacturing; everyone wins” mentions Ron Bennett, President of XGrass™ Inc. XGrass™ products also feature the DuraFlow backing system which makes the turf 100% recyclable. XGrass™Enviro products are meeting green from both sides of the spectrum.

Synthetic grass is already widely considered a green product because it reduces the need for watering which can be a drain on our natural resources. Synthetic turf products are eligible for LEED credits under the Water Efficient Landscaping category. As fresh water scarcity continues to be a global concern, products and processes that use or consume less of it will continue to grow in popularity. XGrass™Enviro will now gain additional points in the Materials and Resource category to lend further credibility in specification for environmental applications. The evolution of XGrass™Enviro will continue to solidify the viability of synthetic grass products reaching the mainstream in landscape design.

XGrass™Enviro will debut publicly at the National Recreation & Park Association (NRPA) Congress and Exposition in Minneapolis, MN on October 25th through October 29th.
