The Weitz Bags Retirement Community Building Contract in North Scottsdale

Maravilla Scottsdale, a luxury retirement community under development in North Scottsdale, has awarded The Weitz Company’s Southwest Division the contract for the next phase of construction.

Phase II of the development is expected to commence on November 30th, and will consist of 240,000 square feet of vertical construction. In addition to site work, landscape and irrigation, construction will focus on Maravilla’s Lodge – the community’s main entrance and location for numerous common living spaces such as the club house (with indoor pool, fitness center and activity area), Internet café, and the Ironwood Grill (Maravilla’s main dining room).

According to Michael Grust, president and CEO of Senior Resource Group, the owner and operator of Maravilla Scottsdale, Weitz Southwest has the experience and the team to carry out Maravilla’s unique design plan. By leveraging the companies’ combined 40 years of experience and lessons learned, Maravilla Scottsdale’s sophisticated style and high-end amenities and services will be unmatched in the Scottsdale market place.

“We’re pleased to continue our relationship with The Weitz Company in the development of Maravilla Scottsdale,” said Grust. “After five years in the making, we believe Maravilla will raise the bar on senior housing in the Scottsdale market. Unlike anything presently available, Maravilla Scottsdale is going to be something truly special with its stunning architectural design and extraordinary programming and services.”

"The Weitz team is very excited to partner with Senior Resource Group to further our shared passion for building great places for seniors to live,” said Bryan Bernardo, LEED AP, vice president of The Weitz Company. “We look forward with anticipation to help deliver the exceptional facility that Maravilla Scottsdale will become.”

SRG has held a longstanding and well-earned reputation for operating extraordinary communities with first-class programs, amenities and services. The company currently owns and operates six luxury communities within Arizona; Maravilla Scottsdale will be the seventh when it opens late spring 2012. Sister communities include La Siena in Phoenix, The Village at Ocotillo in Chandler, Hawthorn Court in Ahwatukee, Silver Springs in Green Valley and Amber Lights and Villa Hermosa in Tucson.

Situated on 25 acres in the northern end of Scottsdale, adjacent to the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and TPC Golf Course, Maravilla Scottsdale will include a 217-unit continuum of care campus community that will feature a variety of floor plans ranging from independent living casitas and courtyard residences to licensed assisted living care and memory care suites.

The Maravilla Scottsdale Information Center is open daily to view site plans, explore kitchen and bath vignettes, meet one-on-one with Sales and Marketing Representatives, and learn how Maravilla sets itself apart from other traditional retirement communities.

The community will feature visionary Spanish Colonial architectural styling and innovative design along with high-end amenities and services such as: gourmet restaurants, a café, bistro, clubhouse, enclosed swimming pool, 9-hole chip-and-putt golf course, beauty salon and barber shop, bank, spa and other enriching amenities and recreational and social spaces. Residents will also take pleasure in the immaculate outdoor living spaces, including meandering trails and gardens as well as cultural meeting and performing arts venues.
