Östers IF Awards Soccer Stadium Construction Contract to NCC

NCC Construction Sweden has been commissioned by Östers IF to construct a new soccer stadium at Arenastaden in Växjö. The order value is approximately SEK 170 million.

Planning will commence immediately and construction is scheduled to start on March 1, 2011.

The arena will have the capacity for 12,000 spectators, 10,000 seated and 2,000 standing. A roof will be built over all spectator areas. The order also includes a restaurant for 500 guests and 15 to 20 boxes. The arena will be located by the roundabout at the I11 trading station, close to Gamla Värendsvallen.

“The arena will be modern, with elements of such robust material as wood and glass. It will be built on a split level – visitors will enter on the ground floor and the field will be located three meters below,” says Stefan Blomkvist, Business Manager, NCC Construction Sweden, Region South.

The contract between NCC Construction Sweden and Östers IF was signed today and is subject to approval being received from the Municipal Council in January 2011. The Municipality will serve as creditor for the project.

The arena is scheduled for completion on July 1, 2012 and construction will employ approximately 50 people. The project will be registered in the first quarter of 2011.
