Cosella-Dorken to Feature DELTA-MS Wall Waterproofing Product at Home Builders Event

Area builders and architects will get a first-hand look at an advanced new product made largely of post-consumer recycled material that effectively waterproofs basement walls and keeps foundations dry.

DELTA®-MS wall waterproofing and drainage product for below-grade foundations uses air-gap technology which guarantees a safe separation and full capillary break between the foundation wall and any ground moisture. The dimpled membrane keeps wet soil away from the foundation. If any water happens to get through, then gravity drains the moisture away.

The Home Builders Association of Connecticut has invited Cosella-Dorken - and a number of other green building technologies to demonstrate their products:

Where: Crowne Plaza Cromwell
              Cromwell, CT

When: Wednesday, February 9, 2011
             8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Already a trusted brand leader in Canada, DELTA®-MS, manufactured by Cosella-Dorken, is currently available in some U.S. markets at building supply stores such as Lowe's. Made in Beamsville, Ontario, the product is approved for use as a damp-proofing and wall waterproofing material as per the International Residential Code and the International Building Code in the United States.

The core of the product is made from recycled household materials, which is then encased in outer layers of polyethylene to ensure performance, long life and sustainability.

"While building code requires that basements are protected, most builders know that meeting minimum building code requirements does not necessarily make for a comfortable building. Our product reliably keeps ground moisture away from the foundation wall. That is a key factor in achieving a permanently dry basement, and that's a huge selling feature for builders," says Peter Barrett, Product Manager for DELTA.

"When homes have dry basements, families have the option of growing into this additional comfortable living space as an economical and sustainable lifestyle option."

In new home construction, DELTA®-MS is efficient, cost-effective and simple to install by a certified two-man crew by unrolling the membrane against the foundation wall where is quickly fastened and sealed. It is a stand alone foundation protection system that does not require the use of surface preparations such as asphalt prior to installation.

Retrofit is possible and it is best to repair the foundation from the outside. DELTA®-MS can easily cover concrete with large cracks and imperfections as well as cover surfaces that originally had a spray-on protective coating. With proper tools and installation instructions, the DELTA®-MS can be a DIY project for homeowners although DELTA generally recommends a certified applicator.

Manufactured by Cosella-Dörken, DELTA®-MS is part of a time-tested product line that was developed in Europe in the 1970s and then established in the harsh Canadian climate in the 1990s. DELTA® products protect property, save energy and create comfort.
