Nevada Department of Transportation Grants Highway Project to Granite Construction
Granite Construction declared that the Nevada Department of Transportation has granted it a design-build deal for the interstate reconstruction. The value of the contract is at $72 million.
The company will utilize its local team in Reno as well as its experts from its large projects group to assist and complete the Interstate 80 Robb to Vista Boulevard project. The extent of the contract work requires the company to improve the existing condition of around 10 miles of Interstate 80 that passes through Reno. The scope of work includes activities such as digging, improving the drainage on the way, providing concrete or asphalt paving as needed, constructing a concrete barrier wall, and placing of sign boards and landscaping. The contract also requires the company to add an extra lane to the two mile stretch of the interstate.
Granite Construction is anticipated to commence the project work in April 2011 and to complete it by November 2012.
